Ontario Black Bear Hunting

Located just 25 miles south of the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve, Five Mile Lake Lodge sits in the heart of the Black Bear Capital of the World. We hunt the area surrounding our lake and other nearby lakes, streams and marshes from tree stands, as well as ground blinds depending on the terrain and your preference. This prime habitat has a healthy black bear population and we have kept it strong by not over harvesting and only bringing in a small group of hunters each year.

We have a brand new BMA for 2010 that has not been hunted for nearly 10 years!

We run a quality bear hunt and guarantee to put you on an active bait. As mentioned, our hunt has been kept on the small side, bringing in between 6 and 8 hunters per year, but with our new and quite large area, we will now be able to provide additional hunting opportunities for more hunters though continuing our policy of harvest management to keep our bear population strong.

All baiting begins at least one month prior to the start of our hunt, which we run the last two weeks of August and first week of September. Our proven baiting techniques, along with the use of trail cameras, provide the hunter with the best opportunity to harvest an animal by determining the time of day that the animal is coming to the bait. This also assists us in sizing of bears and if sows and cubs are present at which time we abandon the site. Most baits can be accessed with a short walk from your vehicle off logging roads and trails, but ATV's are always welcome if you prefer. We will provide any help needed with retrieval of downed animals and full use of freezers are provided with your hunt. References available upon request.

Please join us at Five Mile Lake Lodge for a Chapleau Black Bear hunt that you will remember for years to come.
