Goldie Lake is without a doubt the best lake in the Chapleau area for trophy Northern Pike and Lake Trout. Landing some 32-42 inch Northern Pike and 4-12 pound Lake Trout is all in a day's work at Goldie. Summertime provides some good Smallmouth Bass fishing.
Goldie Lake Outpost truly offers the great remote experience being the only cabin on this huge lake. It is approximately 11 miles long with many bays, islands, beaches, rivers and waterfalls to explore. Bordering on the largest game preserve in the world, wildlife sightings are common.
The cabin has a large sunroom with dining area, which offers a breathtaking view of Goldie Lake and its spectacular sunsets on the horizon. The main living area has all the amenities to ensure a comfortable stay, including a full size propane refrigerator, 3 burner countertop stove, a wood stove, running water to kitchen sink and enough pots, pans and utensils to accommodate 8 people. Be sure to bring your sleeping bags.
Goldie Lake's other attractive feature is that you have the choice of flying in or taking the train. Cost considerations have made taking the train the main option. If you decide to take the train, you will be pleased with the benefits. Unlimited gear, no weather delays, and a comfortable 45-minute ride northwest of Chapleau until you reach your destination. The train stops at Goldie River where you load up your boats and travel 25 minutes to the cabin.
